Amer Bukvic is the CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI), the only Islamic bank in South-East Europe. During his tenure as CEO, BBI has become the fastest growing bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), positioning itself among the top performing banks on the market. In 2017, it was declared as the best managed bank in B&H. Under Amer’s management BBI assets increased eightfold. He was declared the best banking CEO in B&H in 2011, 2014 and 2016. He received the “Best Transformational Leader Award 2017“ for Islamic banking industry by Cambridge IF Analytica, as well as numerous other awards in B&H and worldwide. Amer is included on the list of 50 most influential world leaders in the Islamic economy by Islamica 500 business guide for 2018.

Amer studied International Relations at the International University of Japan (IUJ) and graduated in 1998. After graduating from IUJ, Amer also completed postgraduate executive education at London Business School (2004) and Said Business School at the University of Oxford (2014). During the initial stages of his career he worked as a research coordinator for the Overseas Strategic Consulting – USAID project in B&H. He later joined the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group as a young professional before taking on the role of Deputy CEO of BBI in 2004 and position of CEO in 2006.



Harun has rich experience across the spectrum of policy making and development coupled with high profile investment banking experience including sukuk, private equity, real estate, project finance and advisory. Currently Harun is Economic Adviser, Department of Economic Development, Government of Dubai. Presently he is primarily responsible for development of financial sector in Dubai and leads some key initiatives aimed at developing Dubai into global financial hub. Previously he was Regional Manager with DIB Capital and Dubai Islamic Bank, Financial Engineer with Treasury Department of Islamic Development Bank and, Junior Privatization Specialist with the World Bank. As a Chevening Scholar he holds MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking from ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, University of Reading.





YÜLEK, Murat

Murat is a professor of Economics at Istanbul Commerce University where he is the Director of the Center for Industrial Policy and Development. He is also a partner at PGlobal Global Advisory and Training Services, an Ankara based international advisory company. He is a member of advisory councils of various national and international economic and business institutions. Murat holds and has held high level executive responsibilities in financial and non-financial corporations including as director and chairman. He has held developmental and business responsibilities including macroeconomics, project finance, corporate finance in various countries in Europe, Africa, North America and Asia with tenures at institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the Islamic Development Bank and the Turkish Prime Ministry. He undertook consultancy assignments at the World Bank, EBRD, UNCTAD and advised public and private institutions in various countries. He has authored or led financial, macroeconomic, sectoral studies, impact, feasibility and financial valuation studies.

Murat has taught at different universities such as Georgetown and took other teaching responsibilities at Yale, Riga and Obuda Universities. He has delivered training classes in various countries. Previously, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at THK University in Turkey. He authored a number of books and articles in economics, development and finance. His most recent books have been published by international publishers Palgrave, Springer and Peter Lang, covering sustainable development, industrial policy, economic planning, industrial policy and suitable design of public procurement policies aiming at increasing the technological level in emerging countries.

He writes columns at newspapers and financial journals, and is a frequent speaker at various fora organized by institutions such as Global Economic Symposium (GES), Yale University, European Investment Bank Institute, Duke University, Prime Ministry of Turkey, COMCEC, Economic Cooperation Organization, Dubai Economic Council, CFO Forum-Vienna, Khazanah Megatrands Forum, The Economist Round Table, Ewha Women’s University (Korea), Wirtshaftsrat, APU Ritsumeikan University (Japan), Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Universita degli Studi di Parma and Eurofinance Conferences. He is actively involved in the organization of Istanbul Finance Summit (Chairman of the Advisory Board) and Sarajevo Business Forum (Member of the Advisory Board). He has received various awards for his research and professional services.

He holds an MBA degree from Yale University, Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from Bilkent University, an MSM (management) degree from Boston University and a B.Sc. degree (mechanical engineering) from Bogazici University.
